My talk will be about the nature of implicit bias. How is it possible that people, as psychological research shows, can behave, decide, feel, and think in sexist, racist (or ...) ways, while at the same time they think of themselves as egalitarian and objective? I will argue that we should pay attention to the different descriptions that we, and others, can give of our decisions, feelings, and thoughts.
If you are interested in writing an essay about implicit bias, feel free to contact me at lieke.asma@hfph.de. Other topics you could write about under my supervision are:
- free will (and scientific research)
- acting for reasons
- implicit motives more generally
- moral responsibility
As you may have noticed, this description is in English. The talk will be in English also. I can read German texts, however, so if you'd rather write an essay in German, that is perfectly possible!
